Genetic Origins: Open pollionated of Fuggle seedling, itself derived from crosses between Fuggle and the Russian hop Serebrianka.

Genetic Origins: Selected from a cross between Brewers Gold and Fuggle seedling and a selected USDA male with a large Brewers Gold percentage.

Genetic Origins: From a cross between Petham Golding and a USDA-selected male with high alpha-acids and good storage properties.

COLUMBUS

Aroma Specifications: moderately high, spicy, piney, grapefruit tones

Genetic Origins: Best described as an enhanced aroma variety similar to German Perle.  It is an open cross of Perle and was released by the USDA-ARS program in 2013.

  • Alpha-Acid % 10 -11.5
  • Beta-Acid % 3.3 – 3.5
  • Co-Humulone % rel. 20 – 25

MULTI HEAD

Aroma Specifications: intense citrus with fruity tropical notes, peachy if used earlier in the boil.

Genetic Origins: Multihead hops are part of a collection of wild neo.

  • Alpha-Acid % 4.5 – 4.8
  • Beta-Acid % 5.5 – 5.8
  • Co-Humulone % rel. very high > 45%

TRIPLE PEARL

Aroma Specifications: tropical notes of melon, orange, citrus, peppery spice

Genetic Origins: A Peltham Golding X 63012M cross. (The German hop “Perle” shares the Peltham Golding parentage.)  A dual purpose bittering/flavoring hop with heavy aroma; spicy, pine-resiny with grapefruit notes.  Good pick-ability with 24-40” side arms.  Popular with both craft and major brewers; thus grown by many Midwest growers as a “workhorse” hop.

Genetic Origins: Classic German noble aroma type.  Gradually being replaced by the Hallertauer hybrids Liberty & Mt. Hood.
